Woody Pines
American Music Torchbearer

The Woody Pines sound is completed with Shawn Supra slapping away on the upright bass, Brad Tucker on lead guitar and backing vocals, Joe Giotta on drums and Woody on guitar, harmonica and lead vocals. They have logged over 7800 miles in there van last year, with two trips to the UK and Ireland. ‘Counting Alligators’ was #7 on the Americana Charts)

“Woody Pines brings that low-key street corner style of performance to his stage show, but with all the polish and seasoned professionalism of a tour-bus-and-green-room rock stardom.  Crackerjack musicianship goes a long way toward a band’s greatness, but showmanship seals the deal. Pines, on stage, is an old soul and natural performer, storied and steeped in the best of American music.”
– Alli Marshall Mtn. Xpress, Asheville, North Carolina

Esther Haynes Washington DC Metro Jazz

NEW - A blend of Hoagy Carmichael, moon tunes, and southern tunes in a variety of styles such as jazz standard, country blues, vaudeville, western swing, and bossa. - DC Metro Entertainment

This album was conceived as a tribute to my dad, who came from Montgomery County, Tennessee, and hopefully will inspire others to think about their family roots. It encompasses various vocal styles, including four Hoagy Carmichael standards, an Alec Wilder bossa, two swing tunes, a country blues, a vaudeville tune, and one original. It is kind of relaxing, hence the title "Moon Country", (named after one of the Hoagy tunes), and is meant to evoke an imaginary place harkening to days gone by. - See Esther Haynes Live

Musicians from the Shenandoah Valley

"Scott Murray sings like a bird." - Townes van Zandt

He also shared the state with Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett, Shelby Lynn, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Kathy Mattea and Henry Gross. Scott was named Grand Prize winner at the Gumtree Folk Festival, and was a regular performer at Townes Van Zandt's bar in Nashville.

Before leaving Nashville and returning home to Virginia, Scott wrote and produced the songs on his second album, "Short Stories." Two of these songs were selected by Virginia-based DCD Records in 1998 to appear on a compilation of Shenandoah artists. - Scott Murray

Rick Harris - His fingers dancing over the guitar strings, his head thrown back then bending deeply forward, eyes often shut, now one foot poised in midair, he feels the music. He is the music.

“I’ve played for 50,000 people, and I’ve played for no one, and it’s all the same,” he says. “I’m glad people enjoy what I do. Performing is a strange thing. I just want to play with my friends.”

Washington, D.C. Metro Big Band - Joe Enroughty

Big band music the style of jazz from the 1930's and 1940's is GREAT music to have at your Shenandoah Valley Wedding or Event. With the renewed interest in swing music and big band music which is fueled by a resurgence in swing dancing, with such dances as the Jitter Bug and the Lindy Hop your party or event comes alive.

Imagine if the migration of the 60's went to Nashville instead of San Francisco? What music might the Jefferson Airplane have played? Or...imagine the Grateful Dead covereing a Carter Family tune?Start with big vocals on top of acoustic and electric guitars. Now...add bass and percussion and shake for 6 minutes. Understanding the combination of styles the members bring to the table is the story of Blue Line Highway. Lead singer and percussionist Julia Dooley is strongly influenced by classic blues and old time country like the Carter Family. - Blue Line Highway

Ed Mccurdy The Blues Man - Born and raised in the Washington D.C.area of Arlington Virginia, Ed was also raised with a musical and artistic family backround as well. Eds father stage name (Terry O' Reiglly) mac McCurdy was a professional trumpeter and composer back in the days of big band and gangsters. An era his father loved and an era that peaks Eds interest each time he thinks about the ole days of music. Ed started out on the alto sax when he was about 8 yrs old. His interest in the reeded instrument did not hold out for long.So he became attached with the idea of becoming a drummer. Like his father said if your going to play the drums you have to play with the ole school Gene Crupa and Buddy Rich modo.” Lightly and Polightly”. So Ed realized he had a GOD given talent as he quickly progressed with percussion. He was top of his game in each class of elementary, Jr. High, And High School. During his teen years at the age of 14 he realized he had the natural ability to play piano and write music. more info
